The adult soccer league initiative was born out of the Dreams Montreal children’s program.
In order to finance the activities of its children’s program offering sporting, artistic and cultural activities to children of low-income Montreal communities, Rêves Passion Montréal established the adult soccer league. Since its first games, the majority of the profits from the league have been used to develop the Dream Montreal Passion program.
Both were born from the same vision, to simultaneously combine the benefits of sports for adults and educational development through sports and arts for children, leading to an active integration of adults and children within the community as well as improved self-esteem.
It all started in Summer 2011, for the first time, a team of teenagers from the Habitations Jeanne-Mance joins Rêves Passion Montréal’s 5×5 urban mixed soccer league for a sixteen weeks championship in the heart of the Quartier Latin! Rich integration experience, which was a great success and definitely opened the door to the future integration of youth teams in the official soccer championship of Rêves Passion Montréal.
This program has since been renamed “Urban Soccer for Dream and Hope” and is taking place successfully in the spring and fall. Two seasons of training and gamesunder the sign of respect of the rules put in place by the young kids and teenagers themselves and the integration of the girls in each team.
Since 2015 we have chosen to focus 100% on soccer, as much for children as for adults, thus naming the children’s program, Urban Soccer for Dreams and Hope.
Since 2017 this program is sponsored by FIFA FOUNDATION and since 2021 by UEFA FOUNDATION FOR CHILDREN. Thanks to this gracious support, in the next few years we will be able to offer our activities to a number of community centres throughout Montreal and the rest of Quebec.
In partnership with community centres, use soccer as a vehicle for integration and social development while promoting equality/equity in activities that fights all social and gender discrimination.
Through sport, create an exemplary environment of gender equality and opportunities, contributing to a new generation of girls with strong values and boundless ambitions.
